Lauren Alaina To Join Season 28 Of 'Dancing With The Stars'

Country singer, Lauren Alaina is officially a contestants on the upcoming season of ABC's Dancing With The Stars. The news broke on Wednesday morning (August 21) on Good Morning America.

The "Road Less Traveled" singer will compete against 12 other celebrity dancers for the famed Mirror Ball trophy. Aside from Alaina there will be two other musicians a part of the show including The Supremes' Mary Wilson and Fifth Harmony's Ally Brooke. In addition other celebrity dancers are the Bachelorette Hannah Brown, Queer Eye star Karamo Brown, former NBA player, Lamar Odom, model Christie Brinkley, actor James Van Der Beek, former NFL player, Ray Lewis, comedian Kel Mitchel, former White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, and actress Kate Flannery.

Apparently, Alaina was talked into doing DWTS by last season's winner, Bobby Bones. "Everyone really needs to pray for me, because I am not a dancer," she shared with iHeartRadio station, The Bull. "Bobby Bones talked me into it."

"A lot of people who worked for Dancing With The Stars worked for American Idol so I knew a bunch of people that worked there, Alaina explained. "And Bobby said when I was there that I need to do the show and I said 'oh yeah that'd be fun!'...and then they called me for the next season. So here we are!"

The new season of Dancing With The Stars premieres on ABC on Monday, September 16 at 8 p.m.
