BooksWithBox: Lunchbox Reviews 'The Boys In The Boat' by Daniel James Brown

Welcome to #BooksWithBox! I am going to be recommending one book a month that I enjoyed reading and I think you should read. I would love you to pick up the books I am reading, because I would never steer you wrong. The first review up is The Boys In The Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest For Gold At The 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown.

Boys in the Boat will have you crying one minute, then have you cheering for a team in a race that happened almost 100 years ago.

Joe Rantz is left by to survive on his own when his family decides there is no room for him when he just a young kid. So Joe figures out a way to survive and then gets into college at the University of Washington. Once in college he decides to give rowing a try and finds something that gives him purpose. Then we follow the journey of the rowing team, all of the boys coming from humble backgrounds and trying to do the impossible.

The perseverance of Joe to just survive on his own is enough to make you say that dude is amazing but that is just the first half of the story.

Inspiration is something you can't help but find when you read this book. The Boys in Boat are no doubt one of the greatest teams of all time.

Get your book, get your kleenex, and get your pom poms out so you can be ready for The Boys in the Boat.
