UPDATE: Rumors swirled early today that Depp was offered over $300 million to come back as Captain Jack Sparrow. Johnny has since denied this is true.

A rep for the acclaimed actor told NBC News, “This is made up" It seems that the actor is not in talks with Disney for coming back as his famed character, but maybe the rumors will spark the conversation about it.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced “Pirates of the Caribbean”, didn't totally shut down the possibility though. He told The Times , “Not at this point,” Bruckheimer said. “The future is yet to be decided.” SO YOU'RE SAYING THERE'S A CHANCE!

This was the original story:

Johnny Depp is on a career revival after the long and very TMI trial that he went through with Amber Heard. He's now allegedly coming back to one of his biggest roles for a massive paycheck.

Rumors from several credible sources are saying that Disney execs where in talks with Depp before and during the trial asking if he'd be interested in reprising his role in the "Pirates" franchise. He's been reportedly offered just over $300 million to come back as "Jack Sparrow" the drunken pirate we all know and used to love.

Over the 19 years of the franchise, Depp has been in six Pirates movies. He was then dropped from the role after 36-year-old Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed that labeled him as an abuser. The trial feature testimony about the $22.5 million payday he lost out on and how it stalled his career, as people didn't want to work with someone that had that image.

Depp's “return as Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ and in a spin-off Disney+ series based on his early years,” is the word on the street from an unnamed source quoted in the NY Post and TMZ. They also claimed that, “The studio has already drafted a script for a film about Jack Sparrow, so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as the iconic character."

From testimony about how hurtful it was to lost his project and character on the stand, it seems Depp would be very happy to have it back. It remains to be seen if he'll accept the offer and get back on the ship (pun intended).
