Kelsea Ballerini revealed one of her fears in a new TikTok with her music video costar, artist Gavin Leatherwood. The pair played a couple who endure the ups and downs of a relationship in Better Version (Of Me), the music video for the “Better Version” collaboration that Ballerini released with Fletcher.
Ballerini and Leatherwood teamed up to play a game of “Better Version” on the set of the music video, asking one another to choose the better option between two choices. Ballerini kicked off the Q&A by asking Leatherwood which ice cream flavor is better: chocolate or vanilla? (Leatherwood chose “vanilla,” which Ballerini said is “weird”).
“What’s better: flying, or breathing under water?” Leatherwood asked Ballerini next.
“Flying, because then you can see everything,” Ballerini decided, adding that the deep sea is “not for me. It’s not for me. I’m scared of the ocean. What’s in there? We don’t know. No one knows! And we don’t wanna know.”
The “HEARTFIRST” star did, however, take a leap toward conquering that fear on a recent vacation.
Ballerini added her own verse to a reimagined version of Fletcher’s previously-released “Better Version.” The collaboration appears on Fletcher’s Girl Of My Dreams deluxe album. The two artists debuted a cinematic music video earlier this month, sparking big questions on social media about the ending.
The music video, titled Better Version (Of Me), sees Ballerini and Fletcher in two paralleled love stories. They depict the highs and lows of their respective relationships, which seem to ultimately lead to a breakup. After the split, Fletcher and Ballerini meet one another in a diner (and now, fans want to know more).
“I was there on the side of your stages/ I grew up for our difference in ages/ Never thought we were subject to changes, yeah/ And I did my best to fix it/ ’Til death 'cause then I meant it/ Your next girl is gonna you reinvented and not pretendin’/ Do you think of me when you f*** her?/ Do you use the moves, the ones we learned?/ It's always the next person/ That gets the better version/ 'Cause baby, I loved you at your worst/ And I fixed your heart, but mine still hurts/ And now some other person/ Is gonna get the better version of you.”
