Pediatrician Shares 5 Things You Can Do to Make Your Kids More Resilient

We all want to make sure kids don't get hurt, but also prepare them for the tough world ahead. What’s the best way to go about it?

According to a pediatrician, do what you can to foster a "really healthy resilience."

Here are five things you can do to raise more resilient kids:

1. Don't be afraid to let your kids fail. There's a lot you can learn from failure. It's not about if you fall, it's about how you get back up.

2. Allow your kid to worry. Shutting them down by saying, "Don't worry about it," can do more harm than good.

3. Help them imagine the worst and best-case scenarios is a good way. It's never as bad as you think . . . and it could always be better.

4. Teach them how to value their own personal growth by devaluing external validation. Measure their performance based on their own expectations, not by what someone else might think.

5. Focus on the process, not the outcome. It's not about who wins or loses, but who has the most fun getting there.
