I'm sure if you've driven in Atlanta traffic you've screamed at your steering wheel on many occasions. 3 of the worst bottlenecks in the U.S. are on the ATL interstates.
The American Transportation Research Institute released it's annual list of the words roads for traffic around the country. Atlanta roads came in as some of the worst, according to the data they cruncehd from millions of trucks that use the roads around the U.S. on a daily basis.
I-285 shown as one of the biggest culprits for snarled traffic. 7 locations around the Atlanta metro made the Top 100, but 3 on the Top 10 list where all on I-285. WSB took a look as some of the worst:
2nd on the list for worst in the nation was I-285 and i-85 interchange in Dekalb. Ugh, you might as well grab a movie while your sitting in stand still trying to get through that on high traffic times. NOPE!
5th on the list was Cobb Cloverleaf of I-285 and I-75. This is actually better ranked on the list from the previous year. It landed 3rd in 2018. Another one you just want to avoid at all costs during rush hour.
I-285 and I-20 on the west side was another big one in the Top 10, coming in as 7th worst bottleneck in the country. Atlanta drivers should get hazard pay for the stress and years these 3 take off our lives trying to get to and from work!
“The morning commute coming in is probably the worst for all of them,” Rebecca Brewster, from American Transportation Research Institute told WSB.
Some other bad spots: #24 I-285 (East) & I-20,#48 I-20 At I-75/85, #62 I-75 In McDonough, And #71 Atlanta I-75 at I-85
Atlanta outranks Chicago and L.A. with the worst bottlenecks!

2 Atlanta, GA: I-285 at I-85 (North)
3 Nashville, TN: I-24/I-40 at I-440 (East)
4 Houston, TX: I-45 at I-69/US 59
5 Atlanta, GA: I-75 at I-285 (North)
6 Chicago, IL: I-290 at I-90/I-94 IL
7 Atlanta, GA: I-20 at I-285 (West)
8 Cincinnati, OH: I-71 at I-75
9 Los Angeles, CA: SR 60 at SR 57
10 Los Angeles, CA: I-710 at I-105
