Have you felt more burnout than normal the last year? You're not alone. Unfortunately this burnout may cause people to leave careers in industries that are vital! For example, a new survey of teachers found that 25% of respondents say they may leave their jobs at the end of the school year. That percentage is up from 17% saying they were ready to leave before the pandemic began. This same survey showed that teachers were twice as likely as other professions to experience stress related to their jobs. Teachers are also three times as likely to experience symptoms of depression. This is not surprising as any parent also observed the stress that school caused during the pandemic. While this profession wasn't looked at specifically in this study, I personally know several nurses that are also thinking about leaving their careers. Does this apply to you or anyone that you know?
